American Graduate: Let’s Make It Happen is a public media initiative, supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), to help students stay on the path to graduation and future success. Public broadcasting has a long history of improving educational outcomes for high-need students and communities. The dropout crisis demands attention now, and CPB is rising to the challenge of doing their part to address this problem. They are working with national and community-based partners to do two things—raise awareness by creating targeted, national and local content on all facets of the issue for broadcast, and engage and empower students at risk of dropping out through community collaborations and classroom resources.

Communities In Schools is a founding member of the Americas Promise Alliance. Since 1997, the America’s Promise Alliance has grown to become the nation’s largest multi-sector Alliance focused on the well-being of young people. Today, the Alliance encompasses more than 400 partner organizations representing the business community, nonprofits, communities and policymakers.
For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. They develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of America is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Boyrs & Girls Clubs run a number of programs with a focus on education, character and leadership, health and life skills, and arts, sports, fitness and recreation. In 2012, their youth development programs, training and services impacted nearly 4 million children and teens.
City Year is an AmeriCorps program that unites diverse young leaders for a year of full-time service. City Year corps members are trained to work in underserved schools to provide targeted academic and schoolwide interventions to help students get on track and stay on track to graduate. As tutors, mentors and role models, City Year corps members have an impact on the lives of children and transform neighborhoods across the United States and in South Africa.
Communities In Schools state offices and affiliates benefit from the talents of Americorps and VISTA volunteers, which are programs of The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). The CNCS is a federal agency that engages more than five million Americans in service through Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America and leads President Obama's national call to service initiative, United We Serve.
Diplomas Now started as a pilot collaboration in 2008 by Communities In Schools, Talent Development Secondary and City Year in a middle school in Philadelphia. The Diplomas Now model is a comprehensive multiyear approach to whole-school reform that includes structural change, instructional materials and curricula, teacher and administrator coaching and support, and an early warning indicator and intervention system to identify and support students falling off track for graduation. In 2010, Diplomas Now was awarded an Investing in Innovation (i3) validation grant by the U.S. Department of Education in 2010 to support the expansion of Diplomas Now from a few schools to more than 30 middle and high schools in more than 10 school districts. Today, local affiliates continue to lead and build local Diplomas Now partnerships.
Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Their mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger. With a network of 200 member food banks across the country, Feeding America supplies more than 3 billion pounds of food and grocery products annually.
First Book provides new books to children in need, addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy – access to books. An innovative leader in social enterprise, First Book has distributed more than 100 million free and low cost books in thousands of communities. First Book now has offices in the U.S. and Canada and was founded in 1992.
MENTOR's mission is to fuel the quality and quantity of mentoring relationships for America’s young people and to close the mentoring gap. MENTOR carries out this work in collaboration with a network of affiliate Mentoring Partnerships and more than 5,000 mentoring programs in all 50 states. MENTOR engages with the private, public and nonprofit sectors to ensure that all youth have the support they need through mentoring relationships to succeed at home, school and, ultimately, work.
NBA Cares is the league’s global social responsibility program that builds on the NBA’s mission of addressing important social issues. NBA Cares programs and participants have provided more than 4.7 million hours of hands-on service and created more than 1,250 places where kids and families can live, learn or play in communities around the world. The NBA also engages more than 50.5 million youth annually, inspiring play and teaching the values of the game. NBA Cares works with internationally recognized youth-serving programs that support education, youth and family development, and health-related causes.
Talent Development is a program at Johns Hopkins University that specializes in research and comprehensive school reform models to address off-track indicators. Talent Development middle and high school programs specialize in organizational, curricular and environmental reforms to make the whole school a better place for students to learn.
Communities In Schools partners with the UNCF Social Entrepreneurship (USE) a new leadership and talent development initiative aimed at providing dynamic programs to equip young high-achieving African Americans with the skills and resources to make on-going and expanding social impact through entrepreneurship.
Social entrepreneurs are society’s change agents. They use entrepreneurial and business principles and an innovative spirit to seize opportunities others miss to improve systems, invent new approaches and create data-driven, outcomes-based solutions to overcome large social problems. Where a business entrepreneur looks for profit as the ultimate goal, a social entrepreneur’s bottom line is to solve social challenges.
Today, the Y engages more than 10,000 neighborhoods across the U.S. As the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to helping people and communities to learn, grow and thrive, our contributions are both far-reaching and intimate—from influencing our nation’s culture during times of profound social change to the individual support we provide an adult learning to read. By nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and supporting and serving our neighbors, the Y ensures that everyone has the opportunity to become healthier, more confident, connected and secure.
YSA believes in youth changing the world. Working with young people, community groups, schools, and nonprofit partners, YSA improves communities by increasing the number and diversity of young people, ages 5 to 25, serving in substantive roles. YSA activates young people to service through four key strategies: Large-scale mobilization campaigns, grants, resources and awards.
